Fine-tuning red color and flavor profiles

Kilned caramel malts, sometimes called simply caramel or colored malts, are traditionally used in beer recipes to enhance red color and mild caramel sweetness. Cargill’s popular caramel malts are made in our circular kiln in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Available colors are 10 (8°-15°), 20 (15°-25°), 30 (25°-35°), 40 (35°-45°), 60 (55°-65°) and 80 (70°-85°). We can also provide kiln processed malts with colors over 85° if desired. From a light touch of red to a more intense crimson hue, our assortment of kilned caramel malts gives you the flexibility to create a truly beautiful amber beer.
