Food and beverage makers are looking for innovative solutions around sustainability

Global sustainability issues are critical to our business, and to our customers’ brands. Consumers are becoming more interested in where their products come from and how they’re made.  58% of today’s primary grocery shoppers want foods from farms that practice sustainable agriculture. That’s compared to 39% in 2004.* Consumer interest in sustainability isn’t a fad. It’s become a long-term expectation.

We can help customers with a range of sustainability-focused programs, products and services:

  • As a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil , Cargill is committed to sourcing palm oil responsibly. Our RSPO-certified palm oil is now available to North American food manufacturers.  Oils for healthy solutions
  • Cargill’s EcoFlour™ sustainability solutions program utilizes cutting-edge technology to help producers apply fertilizer more efficiently, helping to reduce energy inputs and improve yields.
  • And, our Truvia® natural sweetener comes from a sustainable supply chain that ensures responsible practices from field to table.

Sustainable palm oil issues
We believe palm oil should be produced sustainably.

Sustainable palm oil issuesCargill is committed to working toward sustainable palm oil production. We fully support the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Principles and Criteria (P&C), and we are working to ensure that palm oil is grown sustainably throughout the entire industry.

For some time, we have had our own policies in place for responsible palm oil production on our own plantations. Our palm plantation, PT Hindoli in Sumatra, Indonesia, was one of the first to receive RSPO certification in February 2009. In addition, smallholders at our PT Hindoli plantation are the first to be certified under the RSPO’s Smallholder Principles & Criteria. Our European and Malaysian operations have also received approval to offer RSPO products.
